Cap

strips. It is used to make “cap” batik: the stamp is dipped in hot wax (a mixture of beeswax, paraffin and various resins) or rice starch, then applied to the fabric.

Once the wax has dried, the fabric is dipped in the dye, left to dry and then re-dipped in a hot bath to melt the wax. Once the wax is removed, the pattern appears white on a colored background.
