The technique of silk production originated in China, where it was discovered around 2,600 BC.
It is based on the following method: silk farming is achieved through the cultivation of the bombyx mori, a process also known as sericulture. The bombyx mori is a butterfly whose larva, the silkworm, feeds exclusively on mulberry leaves. During its growth, which is considerable and lasts approximately one month, the larva molts 4 times. After these 4 molts, the worm becomes mature. It stops feeding and settles down to weave its cocoon.
