These linden-wood blocks were etched with a wood-burning tool, following the pattern drawn by the tracer. Each block serves as a template for the production of twenty to thirty copies of the same image.
Molten plombine (a mixture of lead, tin and antimony) is poured into the etched lines of the linden wood.
The resulting plate is then nailed to the block.
