A loan from the Hermès House for the exhibition Indigo, Clothing and Textiles of the World, featured at the museum until November 17th, 2019.
The Japanese technique of shibori used for this scarf involves indigo reserve dyeing by sewing, knotting or folding.
The logotype of the House of Hermès was the first distinctive symbol created by the brand in 1945. The design, entitled “Le Duc attelé” (“The Duke in harness”), by Alfred de Dreux (1810-1860), is a tribute to Thierry Hermès, a master harness-maker and saddler who opened his first store in Paris in 1837.
